Working Hard

Well, my hard drive crashed over the weekend, and in the process wiped most of my work for the past few years off the face of the planet.  But, life goes on... and we've got a shop to open.

Here are a few shots of the work party at the shop from a week or two ago.  I'll go snap some more current pictures today.

Fins by Stavron!

I hug out with Christian in San Clemente yesterday, and we spent most of the afternoon hanging around Mark Stavron's shop (O'fish'l Fins) while Mark foiled some incredible fins for Christian's Australia trip.

Christian designed both of these templates for his 1o' CJ Nelson Model Aviso that he will be riding in the Noosa Noseriding contest next month. (Where he'll be defending his title and looking for a three-peat)

The first fin was a modification he made of the Huck Finn we made for his Almond Log Rhythm. He lengthened the fin base and straightened out the trailing edge. (Looks siiick)

The second one Christian cut out from a piece of paper without even drawing it first. he just took a pair of scissors to a piece of paper, and went with it.

I was so stoked on the fins, and what a rad guy mark was, that we're talking about some Almond fin-box fins via Stavron in the near future.

Best of luck to our sea walking amigo, Christian, in the Noosa Contest this year.

Christian's New Log

Christian Wach came up to hang out yesterday, and pick up his brand new 9'7 log we just did for him.

Fortunately, Lightner was around to snap some photos of the occurrence.  Film shots coming tomorrow...

He told me he hasn't had a glass-on fin since Joel Tudor gave him one when he was 12.  I guess that's the price you have to pay when you travel all over the world to surf.

Can't wait to see Christian in action on this thing.

Back to Basics

Even corporate America digs the "back to basics" vibe...

Greatfhull Sled

Also known as the Dead Sled, Lightner's new super hull via Ryan Lovelace.

I've been hearing about this board from Lightner and Lovelace for 2 weeks and how it was going to blow my mind.  Well, I finally got to see it in person yesterday, and it was every bit as impressive as they had described, and then some.

7 feet and stringerless, insanely thin rails, a more breathtaking outline than a swimsuit model, and flex fin that could only be classified as a slingshot.   I'm waiting for a break in the weather to take my turn on it.

And, if I haven't been relaying enough insanely good information in one day... here comes another gem:

I've been talking a lot with Ryan Lovelace, and we're working on some brand new collaboration hull designs that he is going to shape for Almond.  They're going to be insane...  I'll keep you posted on the progress.

More News

If having our own shop isn't enough... there will be another new outlet for obtaining Almond surfboards, t-shirts, and other related products...

We are proud to announce that we're going to be sending stuff to Corduroy Surf Boutique in Portland, Maine!

We're stoked to be working with Ms. Tyler Briggs, and the rest of the crew over there.
