Pogie Video // Contest
We're loving the submissions to the Pogie//Sandia contest, and so far the votes are split pretty evenly on which fish you prefer. Here's one for the Pogie camp.

Pogie vs Sandia // Win a Fish for Christmas
There are TWO twin fin fish models that we make here at Almond. ( Pogie Fish // Sandia Fish ) We want to know which of the two fish models you prefer; and why.
The winner will receive a Pogie or Sandia Fish for Christmas, from the surfboard making elves at Almond.
We want to hear your most convincing arguments for your favorite of the two models, as well as what you would do with it if you had one. So, write us a paragraph or two on your own facebook wall and tag @Almond Surfboards & Designs, so we can read it and pick our favorite response. The winner is entirely based up to our judgement, so get creative. The recipient of the new fish will be announced the last week before Christmas... but get your submissions in early, before we go cross-eyed.

Joel Tudor Invitational | Santa Cruz
Had a blast at the Vans Invitational this weekend. The waves were pumping, the weather was beautiful and everyone was surfing like bonkers.
Everyone was surfing so insane. Honestly, any single one of those guys could have won the contest. But Alex was surfing like a man possessed. One of the most impressive surfing performances I've ever seen. In the final, he was a little dot on the horizon scrapping into overhead waves and then doing what Al does best... all the way to the inside.
Burch surprised a few people by making it to the final. Although it really shouldn't surprise anyone. The guy can just flat out surf on anything. (As he has proven again and again)
Such an honor to get to be there this weekend and experience the whole thing.
Thanks so much to Joel and Vans for everything. They did an incredible job, and pulled on one for the ages.

Joel Tudor x Vans Event #3 | Jan 14-15
The third event in the Joel Tudor x Duct Tape x Vans series will be held next weekend in Santa Cruz, CA.
Nathan got "the call" yesterday informing him that he's in!
Other participants include: Harrison Roach, Jared Mell, Chris del Moro, Al Knost, Justin Quintal, Christian Wach, Dane Peterson, Tyler Warren, Mikey DeTemple, JJ Wessels, Troy Elmore, and a few others.
Should be an incredible weekend of surfing at the Lane, probably going to make the trek up there to witness it.
Congrats Nate, stoked you're in the contest.

#1 Middle School Logger in the Nation...
...Mr. Andy Nieblas.
Andy came by today with his trophy for winning 1st Place in NSSA Nationals for Jr. High!
Stoked for you buddy. Who says D-Fins aren't competition boards?
And stoked to see you and King Rat going head-to-head next year in the HS division.

Congrats Rat!
Aaron "King Rat" Cervantes just finished 3rd in NSSA Nationals for Longboarding, in the High School Division.
Super stoked for you buddy!
The board that he surfed in the contest will be for sale next week, because his new one is almost done... so if you've been waiting for your chance to score a 9'3 Log Rhythm (king rat) model, stay tuned.

Congrats Gully!
The Gull made the Newport Harbor High School Surf Team!
He's going to be a freshman next year, and he'll be longboarding for the Surf Team alongside King Rat, who will be a Senior.
You'll be the only kid in the contest who made his own fin, and hopefully a handful of the other kids fins too.
Stoked for you Gully.

King Rat at HB Pier
Aaron just came by and showed me these rad photos of him in a recent high school contest at the Huntington Beach Pier.
He's riding my super old 10' pintail.

Dear Australia,
Dear Australia,
It all started as a harmless vacation, and I have no problems with that. In fact, I too want to visit Australia soon. But enough is enough. It's time for you to return Kameron Brown back to us. You've had your fair share.
Just return him in one piece and we can all go about our lives. We promise to send him back on occasion.
Sincerely,
California
